Lawdragon's service a new twist on rankings
In case you haven't noticed, there's a plethora of ranking systems for lawyers in the United States. In addition to the old standby, Martindale-Hubbell, there are newer books such as "Best Lawyers in America" and "Super Lawyers."
So along comes a Los Angeles-based dot-com announcing that we need one more. Lawdragon.com is quite different, though.
First, its results are freely accessible via the Internet, a big difference from books that cost hundreds of dollars.
Second, the Lawdragon rankings are designed to allow not only lawyers but also their clients to contribute their views toward each ranking.
The Los Angeles-based corporation just came out with its second annual set of lists. There is the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers and there is the Lawdragon 3000, a broader list from which the 500 are selected.
The Lawdragon 500 lists the most elite practitioners in the nation and includes top specialty lawyers in hot fields such as energy, telecommunications and securities law.
